1. Plug in the transmitter somewhere inconspicuously in your home, garage, or tool shed.
2. The Petsafe Instant Fence (PIF-300) uses a constant radio signal to create a "stay zone". If your dog leaves the stay zone, it receives a warning tone first, if he continues, one second later he will get a correction (at the level you initially set the collar for) and if he continues to leave the correction gets progressively stronger until your dog returns.
3. This Petsafe PIF-300 Wireless Dog Fence does have an Automatic Safety Shut Off after 27 seconds.

1. Package includes 500 feet (1/2 acre) of wire
2. First, using a leash and holding the collar, walk your pet around the boundary, pointing and shaking the flags, saying "NO" and letting your pet hear the beeping of the collar
3. Next, let your pet wear the training collar and walk the boundary again
4. Let it, on its own, venture into the signal area and get the correction. Quickly pull it back into its yard and praise and play with it, again pointing to the flags and saying "NO"
